¶ Overview
The Welcome module allows you to welcome new members who have joined your server. You can make Dyno send either a simple message, create your own message embed, or both. Premium users can even design and send a custom welcome image!
Permissions Check
- Make sure Dyno has the folloing permissions in your welcome channel:

¶ How to set up Welcome
- Head over to your account and select your server.
- Click on the
Modulestab. - Ensure that the
Welcomemodule is enabled. - Click the
Settingsbutton underneath the Welcome module. - Select your message type (
Message,Embed,Embed and TextorCustom Image). - (Optional) Select
Send Welcome Message in a DM (Private Message)if you would like Dyno to send a private message to the user when they join your server. - If you did not enable the DM option, select your
Welcome Channel, where welcome messages will be sent. - Fill out the appropriate fields for your welcome message.
- Click
UpdateorSaveto save your changes.
Please Note:
- Dyno ignores bots. If a bot joins, no message will be sent.
¶ Using a Message response
- Type the message which Dyno should welcome the user with inside of the “Message” box.
- Click the “Update” button and you’re all done!
¶ Using an Embed response
- You can then customise the embed with whatever you want. Scrolling down the page will reveal a “Preview”, which allows you to see what it will look like when it is sent.
- When you are done customising the embed, click the “Save” button at the bottom and you’re all done!

Custom Images is a Standard Premium feature.

- Upload your own custom background image (700x300) or use a background color.
- Customize the
Titleand theDescription Textmessages. - Customize the position of the user’s avatar,
TitleandDescription Textacording to your likings with options to also change the font, the font size, the color and even the text styling!
¶ Welcome Variables
¶ For Message/Embed Responses
{user}- The user joining the server. For example,Hello {user}!{avatar}- The avatar of the user. Eg:Have a look at {username} avatar! {avatar}{username}- The username of the user joining the server{server}- The server’s name{channel}- The channel’s name{@user}- Mention a user by their username, replace “user” with their username. For example,{@Nooblance}{&role}- Mention a role by name, replace “role” with the role name. For example,{&Gamers}, We're streaming now!{#channel}- A channel link, replace “channel” with the name of the channel you want to link. For example,Use {#testing} for all bot testing{everyone}- Mentions @everyone{here}- Mentions @here
¶ For Custom Images
{name}- The username#discriminator of the user. Eg: Hello {name}!{username}- The username of the user. Eg: Hello {username}!{server}- The server name.{date}- The current date in DD/MM/YYYY format.
¶ Troubleshooting Steps
- Make sure Dyno has the permissions specified here.
- Run the
?diagnose welcomecommand. If the module is disabled, enable it on the dashboard or by running this command:?module welcome. - If you are inviting a bot account to test the welcome message, Dyno will not send one. Make sure a user account is joining the server to test it.
- If your message includes an embed with an image, make sure the image ends in a valid file extension such as
.pngor.gif. An easy way to get a valid link is to upload the image to Discord, right click it (or tap and hold on mobile), and selectCopy Image Link. - If your welcome messages sends in DMs, make sure the user who is joining to test it has
Allow direct messages from server membersenabled in their User Settings.
If your welcome message shows
@Unknown-Useror a strip of numbers for some users, it’s an issue caused by your Discord client having not cached the user. To fix it for the specific user, you can click on their profile. However, there is no way to fix this permanently.
